A New Jewel in the Crown

In a management shake-up, Crown Books (Landover, Md.) appointed Ann Carlano as the new vp of store operations. She had previously served as director of retail sales and store operations for Fitigues, Chicago-based chain of upscale clothing stores. She has been in retailing for more than 25 years, including a stint as vice presid4ent of retail sales and store operations for Mondi of America, part of Invest Corp. (which also owns or owned Tiffany, Gucci and Saks Fifth Avenue).

Other appointments included Dennis Buckley as vp and cfo, and Matthew Ellis as vp, human resources.
