Banana Republic names new head of marketing

The Gap Inc. (San Francisco) has announced the hiring of Jack Calhoun as executive vp, marketing, for its Banana Republic division.

Calhoun will oversee all aspects of marketing for Banana Republic, reporting to the division's president, Maureen Chiquet. He Amy Schoening, who resigned the position.

Calhoun had previously been executive vp for brand management and advertising at The Charles Schwab Corp. (San Francisco). He has also been at advertising agencies Foote, Cone & Belding; Citron Haligman Bedecarre; and Young & Rubicam (where he served as general manager of the San Francisco office). He has also held marketing positions at Levi Strauss & Co. (San Francisco) and The Procter & Gamble Co. (Cincinnati).

“With 15 years of broad marketing and advertising experience, Jack has a strong track record of leading and inspiring creative and strategic teams,” said Chiquet. “Jack's brand management experience from both agency and client perspectives will be valuable as he leads Banana Republic's efforts to strengthen our customer relationships and further enhance our brand image.”
