Carl Aschinger Dies

Carl Aschinger, former president of Columbus Show Case Co. (Columbus, Ohio), died on Aug. 9, 2002, at his home. He was 87.

Aschinger began his career at CSC in 1933, cleaning tobacco off of plant receptacles. Following in his father's footsteps, he worked his way through the company ranks and eventually became president, a position he held for 12 years. He retired in 1985, but continued to serve as senior chairman and board member until his death.

During his career, Aschinger was involved in founding the National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers (NASFM). In 1985, Aschinger was honored by the Newcomen Society for his contributions to the industry.

His son, Carl Aschinger Jr. currently serves as chairman of the board and retired president of the company; grandsons Christopher and Chip are president and vp of international sales, respectively; and granddaughter Cathy is marketing manager.
