Heads of Kroger, Lord & Taylor and Hecht's/Strawbridge's, ShopKo chief merchant, are leaving

Joseph Pichler, chairman of The Kroger Co. (Cincinnati), has announced he will retire from Kroger and its board on June 24, 2004. Kroger ceo David Dillon is expected to be elected to the position.

Pichler served as chairman and ceo of Kroger from 1990 until 2003, when Dillon was appointed ceo.

The May Department Stores Co. (St. Louis) announced the retirement of Lord & Taylor chairman Clarence (Bud) Reynolds and Hecht's/Strawbridge's chairman Kenneth Wilkerson, both as of June 1, 2004.

Richard Clausing will succeed Reynolds as chairman of New York-based Lord & Taylor and John Harper will succeed Wilkerson as head of Washington, D.C.-based Hecht's/Strawbridge's. Jane Elfers continues as president and ceo of Lord & Taylor and Frank Guzzetta as president and ceo of Hecht's/Strawbridge's.

ShopKo Stores Inc., (Green Bay, Wis.) announced the resignation of executive vp, chief merchandising officer Kevin Easton, “who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.” The retailer said the process of selecting a new chief merchant for the ShopKo division will begin immediately.
