Eastern Outfitters (Meriden, Conn.) has filed for bankruptcy and plans to close a number of its stores across various brands. The company reportedly received an offer from Sportsdirect.com (Derbyshire, U.K.) to buy all of its assets.

The company plans to close nine locations of its Bob’s Stores, which are located throughout Connecticut. It also has requested court authorization to close 48 of its 86 Eastern Mountain Sports retail stores throughout the Northeast. The stores affected employ 2600 full-time, part-time and temporary workers, reports Hartford Courant.

This is the second time the company has sought bankruptcy. Last year, it sought protection and closed its Sport Chalet chain of stores.
