ShopKo Stores Inc. names vp; RPA Worldwide opens London branch; Osram Sylvania supports Zero Energy

Management Changes:

ShopKo Stores Inc. (Green Bay, Wis., specialty discount store retailer) has named Joseph Zink divisional vp, seasonal/toys and decorative home. Zink is responsible for the merchandising and profitability of the company's 141 stores.

Martin Professional Inc. (Aarhus, Denmark, manufacturer of computer-controlled entertainment lighting equipment, speaker systems and Gem smoke machines) has appointed Mark Nelson national sales manager for its architectural division, Martin Architectural. Nelson most recently was central regional sales manager for Metalumen Mfg.

Display Technologies (College Point, N.Y., p-o-p and merchandising display designer and manufacturer) has promoted Sherry Kleven to director of TechStoc™ sales and Michael Brereton to director of custom sales.

Little Diversified Architectural Consulting (Charlotte, N.C., architecture firm) has hired Rugel Chiriboga design director of the firm's Washington, D.C., office. Chiriboga previously worked at the firm from 1996 to 1999.

Hunt Design Associates (Pasadena, Calif., graphic design firm) has appointed John Temple and Jennifer Bressler partners.

W.A.C. Lighting (Garden City, N.Y., lighting designer and manufacturer) has hired Paresh Shah as director, R&D and engineering. Shah oversees the firm's research and development and engineering teams and design consultants.

Business Briefs:

RPA Worldwide (Columbus, Ohio, retail design firm) has opened a branch operation in London's Smithfield Market. The branch will cultivate RPA's current American client base in Europe and better serve international clients. Mark Artus, RPA's chief creative officer, has been appointed head of the London branch.

Color Kinetics Inc. (Boston LED designer and manufacturer) and Zumtobel Staff Lighting Inc. (Highland, N.Y., architectural lighting solutions manufacturer) have entered an agreement whereby Zumtobel will use Color Kinetics' patented Chromacore technology to create a new line of color-changing LED luminaires, to be introduced at Lightfair 2003.

Osram Sylvania (Danvers, Mass., lighting products manufacturer) is a corporate sponsor of the Zero Energy Home, a state-of-the-art energy-efficient home that opened in Tucson, Ariz., on Earth Day 2003. Sylvania contributed compact fluorescent lighting that was used in recessed ceiling fans and throughout the home.
