Management Changes:

Martin Professional (Frederikshavn, Denmark, entertainment lighting and products producer) has appointed Mark Frihagen as international business development manager of smoke machines. In the newly created position, Frihagen is responsible for developing sales of the Jem product range. He was previously sales manager of traded goods for the company.

Mergers/Acquisitions:

Artitalia Group (Montreal) has announced a formation with three new merged affiliates: Artitalia (Montreal), custom retail fixture and systems designer and manufacturer; Hemsley (Montreal), contract furniture designer and manufacturer; and International Visual Corp. (IVC, New York), signage and visual products manufacturer. All three companies are separate but under parent company Artitalia Group. The company has opened sales offices in Manhattan and Chicago and is building a new IVC and Hemsley office on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. A new web site was created for the new company at www.artitalia-group.com.

Universal Lighting Technologies Inc. (Nashville, Tenn., lighting manufacturer) has acquired selected assets from the bankruptcy estate of Energy Savings Inc., a manufacturer of electronic lighting ballasts and dimming controls. The assets acquired include intellectual property, materials inventory, machinery and tooling.

Charles E. Broudy and Associates (Philadelphia retail design firm) has merged with Shapiro Petrauskas Gelber (Philadelphia retail and entertainment design firm). The firms will practice under the Shapiro Petrauskas Gelber name.

Business Briefs:

Mimi Maternity (Philadelphia upscale maternity fashion designer) has opened 30 new locations in the last year, along with introducing a comprehensive redesign with the Fall 2002 collection. The company has more than 150 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
