W.A.C. Lighting hires Henry Muller; Big Bang Products changes name; Architectural Systems Inc. wins

Management Changes:

W.A.C. Lighting (Garden City, N.Y., lighting manufacturer and designer) has added Henry Muller to its product development team. Muller, who was a designer with Lightolier Inc. for 35 years, is responsible for creating and developing new product lines for new and existing markets.

ShopKo Stores Inc. (Green Bay, Wis., retail operator of ShopKo and Pamida stores) has hired Mary Ellen Martinson as divisional vp, accessories, intimate, fine jewelry and watches for the company's 141-store ShopKo division. Martinson most recently was with Target, where she worked for 20 years in various merchandising positions.

Davaco (Dallas turnkey retail development provider) has promoted the following executives: F.L. Chase to vp, operations; Gena Kay Dixon to vp, Davaco Sourcing; Mark Roberson to vp, logistics and field operations; and Michael Murray to vp, operations.

MBH Architects (Alameda, Calif., architectural firm) has named Celso Rivera, Gerald McDaniel and Tom Pflueger associates at its Alameda office and promoted Tony Stone to senior associate. At the firm's Newport Beach, Calif., office, Abdul Salehi and Greg Simonoff were named associates.

Martin Professional Inc. (Aarhus, Denmark, manufacturer of computer-controlled entertainment lighting equipment, speaker systems and Gem smoke machines) has appointed Juan Alegria, sales manager for the Mexican territory, to handle the company's expanded Caribbean and Central American territories.

The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT, New York, museum) has promoted Valerie Steele to director. Steele was appointed chief curator of the museum in 1997, and has served as acting director since October 2000.


Business Brief:

Big Bang Products (Baltimore apparel designer and manufacturer) is changing its name to 180s. The company makes the 180s brand of performance wear, including “From the Blue” brand of women's fashion accessories, Gorgonz brand of performance work gear and Kelsyus brand of outdoor recreational products.

Awards & Competitions:

Architectural Systems Inc. (New York materials supplier for architecture and design industry) was awarded the IIDA/HD Product Design Award – Best of Competition honor at the Hospitality Design 2003 show for its Woven Wood Collection.

Mohawk Industries (Atlanta flooring manufacturer and distributor) received an Evergreen Award from the U.S. General Services Administration and its National Furniture Center. The award honors Mohawk for its environmental efforts in the areas of waste prevention, recycling, environmental preferability and model facility.
