Gap Inc. (San Francisco) has named Andrew Rolfe president of its International division. Rolfe will oversee Gap stores in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Japan, and be responsible for leading the company's international growth strategies. He will report to Gap Inc. president and ceo Paul Pressler and be a member of the company's executive leadership team.

Rolfe was chairman and ceo of Pret A Manger, a London-based food retailer with operations in the U.K., New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Before that, he was ceo of Booker Foodservice, the leading contract and wholesale distribution company in the U.K. catering industry; and served as vp, European operations, for PepsiCo Restaurants International, where he provided operational leadership for 1300 KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants across 30 countries.

“We know our brands have global consumer appeal, and international expansion represents a clear, longer-term opportunity for our company,” said Pressler. “Andrew and his team will be responsible for continuing to tailor our business to satisfy customer preferences in existing international markets, while also identifying the best ways to serve other customers around the world who want to shop Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic.”

As of Oct. 4, 2003, Gap operates 467 store concepts in 261 store locations in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Japan.
