IKEA Expands with Online Pick-up

Click-and-collect points

IKEA (Delft, Netherlands) announced that in fiscal 2016, the retailer opened more click-and-collect locations than it did traditional stores. The click-and-collect locations are points where customers can pick up online orders.

This reflects a shift in the retailer’s efforts to become more of a multichannel retailer as it opened 19 click-and-collect points over the past year. In comparison, it opened 12 traditional stores this past year.

The retailer opened its first click-and-collect point in March 2015, and added two additional ones during fiscal 2015. E-commerce sales increased in 2016 by 1 percent from the previous year to representing 4 percent of overall revenue, reports The Wall Street Journal.
