Kmart Getting Creative

Hires Lisa Schultz, former Gap executive, to head product and merchandising "vision"

Kmart Holding Corp. (Troy, Mich.) has named former Gap executive Lisa Schultz to the newly created position of senior vp. chief creative officer.

It was one of three new executive assignments the retailer announced. Also, Bruce Johnson was named senior vp, supply chain and operations, and Janet Kelly was named senior vp, chief administrative officer.

Schultz, who was executive vp, product development and design, at The Gap Inc. from 1987 to 2001, will be responsible for “the creative vision of Kmart as it pertains to product and merchandising in Kmart stores.” Prior to her career at The Gap, Schultz held executive positions at Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. Since leaving The Gap, she has been a consultant in the fashion and beauty business.

Johnson joins Kmart from Carrefour SA, the world's second-largest retailer. where he was director, organization and systems, with global responsibilities for information technology, logistics and store organization and methods.

Kelly comes to Kmart from the Kellogg Co. (Battle Creek, Mich.), where she was executive vp, corporate development and administration.
