Marshall Field's to open Levenger reading and writing products shop

Marshall Field's, in the midst of a multi-million-dollar “reinvention” campaign for its State Street flagship store in Chicago, has announced a new shop partnership.

The department store division of Target Corp. (Minneapolis) will open a Levenger shop, the first such shop in the country for the purveyor of proprietary high-end reading and writing products. The 2300-square-foot shop will open on Field's first floor in September, Levenger's only bricks-and-mortar presence beyond its headquarters store in Delray Beach, Fla.

The Levenger line ranges from small leather goods and briefcases to custom reading tools and mobile furniture. “Marshall Field's has a long and notable history of pleasing guests, and giving a guest what she or he wants,” said Levenger's co-founder and president Steve Leveen. “We've followed a parallel path at Levenger and see this as an ideal partnership. It's an honor to be affiliated with such a legendary department store.”

Field's, which will debut its seven-floor overhaul in September, has recently added a number of new vendor shops, for fine British shirt tailor Thomas Pink, New York-based home designer Thomas O'Brien and the home design of London-based Designer's Guild. Additional boutiques to be introduced include one by the fine stationery purveyor, Papyrus, and one by Olsen Europe, a popular overseas apparel brand.
