Retail Design Institute names 2014 STORE OF THE YEAR and recognizes projects from across the globe in more than 20 retail formats

More than a dozen projects called out for special innovation awards

January 12, 2015, New York City: The Retail Design Institute, the industry's largest association for design professionals, named its annual Store of the Year and recognized more than 45 retail design projects in 20-plus retail formats for excellence in design and execution. The projects and the design professionals responsible were honored at the Institute's 44th Annual Awards Gala, which took place at the TimesCenter Stage, New York City.

T2 Shoreditch, London, a tea specialty store designed by Landini Associates, of Sydney, Australia, was named Store of the Year by the judging panel, which was overseen by association’s Boston Chapter.

In addition to naming its Store of the Year, the Gala presentation also included the induction of Kevin Roche, senior vice president, global design for DFS Group Ltd., the Hong Kong-based division of LVMH Group, Paris, into the Retail Design Legion of Honor.  The late Rodney Fitch, a member of the Retail Design Legion of Honor and founder of FITCH, a multi-disciplinary design firm, with offices throughout the world, was honored as well for his contributions to the retail design profession and industry.

About the International Store Design Awards: Design firms and in-house retail design teams from around the globe were invited to submit projects for the Institute’s 44th Annual International Store Design Competition. The competition celebrates exceptional retail experiences across more than 20 categories from full-line departments stores to restaurants and pop-up shops. Eligible projects were those completed between Nov. 1, 2013 and Oct. 31, 2014.
