Retail Sales Lag in April

Warm weather in March hurts April sales

Same-store retail sales rose 0.8 percent in April per the Thomson Reuters same-store sales index, CNBC reported. This disappointing growth follows a healthy a 4.3 percent same-store-sales increase in March. Industry analysts pointed to higher-than-average temperatures in March, which may have prompted shoppers to make spring purchases earlier than usual.
