Strong At The Finish

The Finish Line Inc. (Indianapolis) has reported a 22 percent increase in net sales for the first quarter ended May 31, 2003.

Same-store net sales increased 14 percent for the 13-week period.

The 490-store sporting goods retailer opened 15 new stores during the quarter, remodeled 10 and closed two. The chain is 9 percent larger than it was a year ago. Total retail square footage has increased 7 percent.
