H&M Hennes & Mauritz (Stockholm), the fashion retailer with the growing chain of “cheap chic” urban stores in the U.S., is reportedly seeking suburban locations, as well.

According to a report in Crain's Chicago Business, H&M — which is due to open its first Chicago store this fall on Michigan Avenue — is also looking for locations in Oakbrook Center, Woodfield Mall, Old Orchard Shopping Center, Hawthorn Center or Orland Square Mall in the city's suburbs. Crain's says H&M officials confirm they could open suburban stores as early as next year, though they declined to say how many.

The retailer is also said to be looking to open a store on State Street in Chicago's Loop district.

The Michigan Avenue location was previously occuped by FAO Schwarz, which closed earlier this month.
