Robert Donofrio has been named U.S. ceo of the Asprey and Garrard Group of Companies (London). The international luxury goods company said the branding and retail consultant will oversee the development of the Asprey and Garrard brands throughout North America from its New York office.

Donofrio joins the A&G Group from his own consultancy firm where, for the last 11 years, he has been assisting luxury companies in their strategic planning and operations and has sat on the board of Movado, Kieselstein-Cord and Trussardi. He had previously been executive vp and gm of Bulgari North America for seven years and with the Colgate Palmolive Co. in Europe and North America for 11 years.

Philip Warner, who has been managing the Asprey brand in the U.S. for the last 13 years, was named president of Garrard USA, reporting to Donofrio. Warner will oversee the launch and development of Garrard, the historical British jeweler which, under the creative direction of Jade Jagger, opened its new London flagship in September.

Asprey is a 221-year-old British company known for its silver and leather goods, watches, exclusive porcelain, crystal, rare books and gems. It is in the process of renovating and expanding its London flagship store in New Bond Street and recently signed a lease for the entire corner ground, second and third floors of New York's Trump Tower (at Fifth Avenue and 56th Street) for the creation of a new 28,000-square-foot US flagship store to open in fall 2003. Over the next five years, the company says 10 stores are planned in the major capitals of the world, expanding to a network of up to 40 stores within the next 10 years.

Garrard is a 267-year-old British maker of jewelry, watches, silverware and accessories that has been serving as Crown Jeweler for over 150 years. Its recently opened flagship store is on Albemarle Street, on a site that was originally built for the company in 1911. It also plans to open a store in New York City. Jagger, its creative director, is the daughter of singer Mick Jagger.
