H&M Opens its Largest Store

New York location features new, expanded departments

Today, H&M opens its largest retail store to date. The 65,000-square-foot store is located in New York’s Herald Square, at the corner of West 34th Street where Broadway and Avenue of the Americas converge.

The four-level flagship offers an expanded array of merchandise, including expanded baby, menswear and home-furnishings departments. The flagship will also feature the chain’s first dedicated shoe department, which will occupy 1000 square feet, and more “premium quality” items with around $100 price points.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, customers can expect to view merchandise and trends (such as peasant shirts and blush-colored dresses) showcased on floor-to-ceiling mirrored walls. The store also features upgraded building materials, such as marble, slate and leather, as well as a three-story glass façade and a 35-foot-high atrium. Its fitting rooms are outfitted with heat-sensored curtains that let sales associated know the rooms are occupied by customers.
