By the end of April 2020, JCPenney (Plano, Texas) plans to close six stores and a Kansas call center, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The decision to close the call center, which employs 243 people, comes from a plan to centralize call center operations.

Last year JCPenney closed nine furniture stores and 18 department stores based on its annual internal store/operations reviews, though according to The Dallas Morning News, CEO Jill Soltau says she plans to fix the business and doesn’t expect hundreds of closures in the future.

Several other retailers have announced store closings after end of year reviews including Macy’s, Pier 1 and Kirkland’s.
