The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) once again continued its mission of supporting and promoting the future of retail at the 2019 GlobalShop @ RetailX trade show that took place from June 25-27, 2019 in Chicago, Ill. PAVE is an educational partnership for students in the retail environments industry and was founded to foster development in merchandising and retail design and planning.

PAVE's presence at GlobalShop, included the PAVE Student Design Project, which brought together the best in student design located in Booth 5103. Clients presented real-life design problems to participating students who, in partnership with manufacturers, developed creative solutions. The best designs were chosen by participating companies, built by the manufacturers and displayed in a prominent exhibit at the GlobalShop trade show. The students who designed the winning entries attended the show to present their work in person.

This year's partners included:

·         S-Cube, Bellevue College and Brooks Brothers

·         Grand + Benedicts, Appalachian State University and The Container Store

·         Stylmark, University of Minnesota and Nordstrom

“Participating in the PAVE student design challenge was a wonderful opportunity to give back and support the future of our industry,” said Kevin Brown, Stylmark's President. “Our entire team found it rewarding to bring the students' design to life with our retail partner Nordstrom and contributing partners Bishop Fixtures and Tarkett. Everyone involved gained valuable knowledge from the experience.”

The Container Store's Vice President of Visual Merchandising, Brian Morrison said, “We were thrilled to be a part of PAVE's GlobalShop Student Design Competition and offer up a design challenge to the students at Appalachian State University. The opportunity gave us a platform to continue an internal conversation regrading pop-up shop possibilities for The Container Store.” He continued, “the entire process was terrific and exceeded our expectations, from talent to design, from communication to execution, an A+ all around!  We would be delighted to participate again and would encourage any retailer looking for fresh ideas and creativity to do the same and support students and PAVE's purpose!”

PAVE also continued the tradition of celebrating student education at the 5th Annual GlobalShop @ RetailX Bash. This one-of-a-kind event was held at the newly opened Tao Chicago Nightclub on Wednesday, June 26th, from 8:30–11:30 p.m. Over 400 leaders within the retail industry attended the event, which raised over $30,000 for student education.
