Table Restaurant and Bar, Charlotte, N.C.

ISP/VM+SD Design Competition Winner

For those who want to see and be seen, the place to get a table is at Table Restaurant and Bar in Charlotte, N.C. Designers transformed this “new American cuisine” restaurant, located in a suburban lifestyle center, into a space where Old Hollywood glamour and contemporized Art Deco come together in comfortable sophistication.

The restaurant, which won an honorable mention in the Sit-Down Restaurant category of the ISP/VM+SD International Store Design Competition, is divided into two spaces with floor-to-ceiling draperies framing the private dining area, while 18-foot tall towers inset with sparkling fiberoptics separate the lounge and dining areas.

A warm palette of pink, light blue, cantaloupe and brown references a time when tailcoats and flapper dresses were in fashion. Lighting sets the stage for a dramatic environment with sparkling spotlights inset into the 20-foot high ceilings.

A band of pink cove lighting runs the length of the perimeter, further emphasizing the glamour within. Chandeliers hanging above tables and a large walnut-framed wall graphic of the owner’s grandparents offer touches of the past.
