Visual Merchandiser -- Trek Bicycles Madison, WI Area

The Retail Services Department is responsible for store design and visual Merchandising support/execution throughout the Trek Bicycle Corporation and our independent dealer base worldwide.
Visual merchandisers develop floor plans and three-dimensional displays of goods and services in order to maximize sales and profit. These include window displays, interior point-of-sale displays and special promotions and general merchandising of bikes and accessories.
Visual merchandisers may perform the following tasks:

  • communicate with owners/managers of stores to determine floor layout, traffic flow and display points, as well as what items are to be displayed and how
  • work with internal departments at Trek to support sales initiatives
  • support Store Designers with execution and implementation of new/remodel plans
  • design window or internal displays based on a theme, style or trend of promotion
  • obtain props and accessories for constructing displays
  • make and paint props and signs
  • dress mannequins and use appropriate lighting to display merchandise for the best possible presentation
  • installation of graphics and signage
  • maintain, store and dismantle displays after promotion periods

Physical Requirements:

  • must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times) noisy work environment
  • operate common construction hand tools to accomplish minor construction work to install designs or fixtures
  • minimum of 50% overnight travel and extended work hours
  • responsible for scheduling and booking travel to accomplish projects

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • proficient in the following: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator); Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Sketchup design software or similar experience preferred
  • previous retail experience
  • deadline-driven and works well under pressure
  • ability to manage/oversee multiple projects while working independently with little supervision
  • excellent communication skills; in person, on the phone and in writing
