Visual Merchandising Manager for Sur La Table

The Visual Merchandising Manager contributes to the success of Sur La Table through the day-to-day development and project management of product launches, in-store displays, fixture development, vendor partnerships, holiday campaigns and planning, in alignment with the Sur La Table visual merchandising standards. This position requires constant exercise of discretion in prioritization of work and reports to the Director of Visual Merchandising.
• Coordinates with visual merchandising team and merchants to develop in-store visual presentations and guidelines for monthly floor-sets and department re-sets. 
• Incorporates design expectations from various points of view (including merchandising, operations, and creative departments) into visual concepts, and brings them to life in display presentations in the mock store and/or field store locations.
• Works effectively cross-departmentally with merchants, planners, store operations, & creative services to manage company-wide merchandising projects.
• Coordinates fixture development, sourcing, and purchasing.
• Works with stores & District Managers to determine best locations for new fixtures and keeps store maps up to date.
• Successfully manages flow of visual supplies to both new and existing stores.  Coordinates with allocation teams, vendors and merchants on the shipment of visual assets to stores in a timely manner.
• Oversees the influx and removal of product in the mock-store as necessary.  Maintains all necessary presentations within the mock store on an ongoing basis.
• Liaises with merchants and planning organization to get samples and necessary product for accurate presentations and ensure proper stock levels for presentations.
• Works as a team leader when working in the field, teaches company merchandising goals to others.
• Provides production support for internal visual merchandising documents.
• Manages budgets as they relate to fixture replenishment & new store fixtures.
• Demonstrates exceptional visual merchandising skills.
• Demonstrates excellent, proactive problem solving skills and the ability to provide creative solutions to opportunities as they present themselves.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.
• Ability to regularly communicate verbally and in writing and work cooperatively with employees and customers.
• Ability to use computer and other office equipment to accomplish work tasks. 
• Ability to think critically and communicate complex thoughts and/or ideas in clear and concise manner. 
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
• Ability to move about the work place retrieving merchandise.
• Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch in order to set up merchandise displays.
• Ability to ascend/descend ladders in order to retrieve and/or move merchandise.
• Ability to lift and/or move merchandise weighing up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to travel.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising or related field. Relevant work experience considered in lieu of education.
• 3-5 years visual merchandising experience with home goods; high-end merchandise preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively represent Sur La Table’s merchandising vision.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Adobe Photoshop & InDesign proficiency.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships.
